This is a project by a charity in Bristol. The group will use the funding to renovate and improve the playground and rebuild the drainage system which has caused the equipment to deteriorate overtime. This will make the site safe, green, easy to maintain and contribute to the natural environment of the farm.

Youth Community Spaces offer

This group will use the funding to develop an accessible community garden space where older people and people with limited mobility, learning difficulties or mental health problems can take part in gardening activities. This will encourage people to engage in horticulture and improve community engagement.

Propagation Place: Phase 2

The project aims to help people of all ages with learning difficulties, disabilities or mental health problems to lead more independent lives through a range of engaging activities and volunteering opportunities on the farm. Accredited training in animal care and horticulture, therapeutic outdoor experiences, peer to peer mentoring and practical training placements will be on offer. A social enterprise will also be piloted so volunteers can put new skills gained into practice.

The build is innovative and cost effective and provides on-site construction training opportunities.

This two-year project expanded on plant-growing schemes that St Werburgh’s City Farm in Bristol had already piloted. The project delivered four sessions a week in which local people volunteered to create ‘propagation place’, an outdoor area with seating, a poly-tunnel and propagation benches that were used to grow plants and learn gardening skills; the work was showcased to neighbours at community events and plants that were grown were also be sold to the local community. A steering group of 10 participants led the project.
