This grant is intended to provide funding to organisations whose primary purpose is to improve the response to DA, either through providing support to victims who have experienced DA, or through providing support to front-line services, including other charitable organisations or the statutory sector, to better respond to victims.

The purpose of the funding is to provide support to a vitally important sector doing excellent work with children and adults who are victims and survivors of child sexual abuse. Funding will be awarded to non-statutory sector organisations working nationally to provide services that help victims and survivors cope with and, as far as possible, recover from the impact of child sexual abuse. By supporting these services this funding will contribute to improved health and wellbeing outcomes for victims and survivors, improved criminal justice outcomes (by supporting victims through the criminal justice process) and cost savings for other public services (e.g mental health, drug and alcohol services) by addressing the trauma caused by childhood sexual abuse.

Domestic abuse is a key priority for this Government. The Government committed in the Spring Budget 2017 to provide £20m for victims of domestic abuse and launched a consultation in March 2018 to seek views on a package of proposed measures. Evidence gathered from the consultation showed that specialist needs were not being met. Funding specialist disabled victims, organisations will help deliver this.This aligns with the Home Offices strategic priority of ending all forms of violence against women and girls as set out in the 2016 Violence Against Women and Girls strategy. This grant stream fits in with the policies of the Public Protection Unit to protect and support vulnerable victims of inter-personal violence.

The Vulnerable Youth Project

This continuation of a pilot project by Victim Support, aims to provide support to victims of domestic violence and harassment and reduce reoffending rates of perpetrators through rehabilitation of those on short-term sentences in Teeside and surrounding areas.

The Voice Project

The project is to bring victims of crime, offenders and community members together to improve re-integration, provide some emotional resolution for victims and allow offenders to understand the true consequences of their actions.

The project will increase the capacity of the organisation for dealing with domestic violence victims. By providing advocacy and ongoing support the beneficiaries will have a reduced likelihood of re-victimisation and re-traumatisation. The long term outcome will be that victims of domestic violence and their children will obtain safe housing and in due course overcome trauma and rebuild their lives.

Victim Support (VS) is the national charity for people affected by crime. It offers a free and confidential service, whether or not a crime has been committed. This project aims to develop and extend the support offered to young victims and witnesses through research into the needs of young victims, new communication methods and the establishment of a service specifically for young people.

This project is to develop and deliver a dedicated support service for victims of hate crime.

Salaries & running costs

The project will be led by Victim Support (VS) partnered with Mind, the Institute of Psychiatry (IOP)_x000B_and St George's University of London at Kingston University (SG). It will establish whether people who experience mental health problems are subject to higher rates of victimisation and significant barriers to justice, particularly at the reporting stage. The research will benefit approximately 300,000 people with long-term mental health and 2,000 organisations.

Mental Health and Justice: Making it a Reality

A project by this organisation in Nottinghamshire to provide targeted home security support, crime prevention and personal safety items for residents across the county who are at risk of being victims of crime and anti-social behaviour. The project will target services to those most in need, particularly vulnerable and older people, to improve personal and home security in local communities.

Target Hardening and Remedial Works 2010-11

This project works with young people who have been victims or witnesses of crime in London. People who have experienced a crime against them often become withdrawn, depressed and fearful as a result of their experience. The project will develop its current provision by supporting beneficiaries to rebuild their confidence and self-esteem, stay in education or training, and manage anger to prevent them from retaliation and becoming offenders themselves.

Vulnerable Youth

The aim of the project is to provide an Outreach service for victims of crime in rural areas of Denbighshire. This will be an extension of the current work of the organisation in providing information, advice, emotional support and equipment fitting services for those affected by crime.  The project will also employ admin support to the organisation which will assist in case recording and monitoring.

The aim of this project is to work with families with children that are experiencing domestic violence, providing them with the advice and support needed to improve their family relationships, social wellbeing and psychological health.

This London-wide project will establish a youth forum providing a voice for young people affected by crime. The Forum will enable young people to influence and direct new services provided by both Victim Support and other agencies within the Criminal Justice System, ensuring that they remain relevant.

London Youth Forum and Peer Mentoring Project

The project will raise awareness of the benefits of volunteering among black and minority ethnic and disability groups. New and existing volunteers will get access to core skills and specialist training with a number of three-month administration placements will be available to increase their personal skills and employability.

The project is to enable easier access to the organisation's services in rural areas through outreach to increase awareness of the effects of crime, personal safety and provide advocacy on behalf of people affected by crime. It will also raise awareness amongst young people in schools, of citizenship issues relating to crime, its impact and the ripple effect it can have on a family or community.

This continuation and development project for Victim Support will address the harmful effects of anti-social behaviour on victims in Birmingham. The holistic approach will tackle mental health related issues or factors such as language barriers which can exacerbate the feelings of powerlessness that the victims experience. Following referral the BRAVE Centre will liaise closely with other organisations and statutory bodies including Witness Care Units to coordinate the support for the individual.

This new project based in Wooler will provide a range of activities and support programmes for young people aged three to 18 affected by abuse in North Northumberland. It will also work with their families to educate them about personal safety issues and building stronger, more supportive relationships.
